Leon Draisaitl has re-signed with the Edmonton Oilers, securing his position as the highest-paid player in the NHL

Forward Leon Draisaitl has signed a new contract with the Edmonton Oilers, as announced by the club's press office.

The agreement is for eight years, with a salary of $14 million per season.

Under this new contract, the 28-year-old German has become the highest-paid player in the National Hockey League (NHL). Previously, the highest average salary was held by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, who earned $13.25 million per year.

In the last season, Draisaitl recorded 106 points (41 goals and 65 assists) over 81 games in the regular season and contributed 31 points (10 goals and 21 assists) in 25 playoff matches.

NHL
