Lewandowski's brace leads Barcelona to victory over Valencia in La Liga

Barcelona claimed a 2-1 victory against Valencia in their opening match of La Liga. The game took place at the Estadio Mestalla in Valencia.  

Hugo Duro scored for the hosts in the 44th minute, but the Catalans responded with a brace from Robert Lewandowski, who found the net in second-half stoppage time (45+5') and again in the 48th minute from the penalty spot.  

This match marked the first official victory under the management of Hans-Dieter Flick, who took charge of the team this summer.  

Barcelona earned three points and currently sits in second place in the La Liga standings, while Valencia, with no points, occupies the last spot at 20th.  

In the next round, the Bats will travel to face Celta on August 23, while the Catalans will host Athletic Bilbao the following day.
