According to Daily Mail reports, the unfortunate incident took place in Bergamo a day prior to the game. 51-year-old Philip Joseph Dooley passed away on the night from Monday to Tuesday after being hit by a car while crossing the road. Italian press reports indicate that the man had his passport and a ticket to the Champions League match with him.

At present, the Italian police, along with the Merseyside police and two witnesses, are conducting an investigation into the incident. Authorities are seeking to determine whether the fan was in an altered psychological or physical state that could have influenced his actions.
