Italian press reports indicate that the man had his passport and a ticket to the Champions League match with him.
At present, the Italian police, along with the Merseyside police and two witnesses, are conducting an investigation into the incident. Authorities are seeking to determine whether the fan was in an altered psychological or physical state that could have influenced his actions.
