Luis Suarez plays his final match for Uruguay national team

Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez, currently playing for Inter Miami, has played his last match for the Uruguay national team.

On the night of September 7th, Marcelo Bielsa's side faced Paraguay in the seventh round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament. The match, held at the "Centenario" stadium in Montevideo, ended in a 0-0 draw.

Suarez played the full 90 minutes but did not contribute to any scoring actions. During the farewell ceremony after the game, which was attended by his family, the 37-year-old forward was unable to hold back tears.

Luis Suarez announced his retirement from international football on September 3rd. He made his debut for the national team in 2007, earning 142 caps, scoring 69 goals, and providing 39 assists. In 2011, Suarez helped Uruguay win the Copa America.
