Maresca Advises Defender Chilwell to Find a New Club

Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca has suggested that defender Ben Chilwell consider transferring to another club.

"Chilly is with us, but he hasn't trained for the past few days due to illness. The reason he didn't play against Inter is quite clear. He has issues with his position. This morning, we had 22 players in training, and if you ask any of them, they'd all say they want to play against Manchester City on Sunday. But that's impossible. When you train every day and don't get game time, it affects the players negatively. I have to make decisions, and perhaps it's best for Chilwell to leave our club if he wants to secure playing time. The transfer window is open, so we'll see what happens," Maresca told Metro.

The 27-year-old defender has been with Chelsea since 2020. Chilwell's contract with the club runs until June 30, 2027. Transfermarkt values the player at 28 million euros.
