Mbappé's lawyer on PSG Debt: "He simply wants his work to be paid for"

Delphine Verheyden, the lawyer representing Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé, has clarified why the player does not wish to cooperate with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the club's debt to him.

It was previously reported that the 25-year-old forward is demanding €55 million from PSG before taxes for the last three months of his contract. This sum also includes the final installment of a bonus agreed upon when the contract was signed in 2022. Mbappé has filed a claim to recover the owed amount through the Professional Football League of France (LFP) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

On Wednesday, September 11, the LFP's Legal Committee urged both the player and the club to settle the dispute amicably out of court.

"My client simply wants his work to be paid for, as should be the case for any other player in his situation and any employee who completes their fixed-term contract. Labor laws should apply.

In August 2023, my client, under pressure, made an offer to the club agreeing to forgo a significant portion of his salary. The club did not respond to this. A few days later, PSG proposed a contract extension for one year with a salary increase to €110 million. This contract was never accepted, and no agreement was reached," Verheyden told Le Monde.

Kylian Mbappé played for PSG from 2017. Last summer, the forward moved to Real Madrid as a free agent, signing a five-year contract with the Spanish giants. This season, the French striker has scored three goals in five matches for Los Blancos.
