Messi called up to Argentina squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers
Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has been called up to the Argentina national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay and Peru, as announced by the national team's press office.
The squad includes a total of 28 players. Among those playing outside Europe, defender Germán Pezzella from River Plate and midfielder Thiago Almada representing Botafogo have also been selected.
Currently, the Argentine team sits at the top of the standings with 22 points after 10 matches. Lionel Scaloni's side will face Paraguay in Asunción on November 14 and host Peru in Buenos Aires on November 19.
