Messi could make Barcelona return in 2026

Lionel Messi, currently playing for Inter Miami and the Argentina national team, could make a return to Barcelona ahead of the 2026 World Cup, according to GolDigital.

The Argentine star’s contract with the American club expires on December 31, 2025. Once it concludes, Messi may leave Miami and rejoin Barcelona as a free agent to better prepare for the World Cup.

It is reported that this prospect has the support of Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta.

Messi played for Barcelona from 2004 to 2021, making 778 appearances, scoring 672 goals, and providing 303 assists for the club.
