Messi receives special award as most decorated footballer in history

Lionel Messi, forward for Inter Miami and the Argentine national team, has been honoured with an award recognizing him as the most decorated footballer in history. 

On Thursday, 17th October, Spanish publication Marca presented the 37-year-old Argentinian with a special accolade to commemorate his achievements on the pitch. The ceremony took place at Inter Miami's home stadium in Fort Lauderdale, where Messi received the award from Marca's director Juan Ignacio Gallardo and club co-owner Jorge Mas.

Throughout his career, Lionel Messi has amassed 46 trophies at both club and international levels, cementing his status as the most decorated player in football history. With Barcelona, the 37-year-old forward won four Champions League titles and became a ten-time champion of Spain. With Argentina, he secured two Copa America titles and triumphed at the 2022 World Cup.

In addition, Messi has received 56 individual awards, including eight Ballon d'Ors and six Golden Boots. He has been named UEFA's Best Player of the Year in Europe three times and has won FIFA's Player of the Year award four times.
