Messi's double and assist secures comeback victory for Inter Miami against Philadelphia in MLS clash

Inter Miami achieved a remarkable comeback victory over Philadelphia in their regular-season Major League Soccer (MLS) match. The encounter, held at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, culminated in a 3-1 scoreline.

The visitors took an early lead just two minutes into the game thanks to a precise strike from forward Mikael Uhre. However, the hosts responded emphatically with a brace from Lionel Messi (26', 30') and a late goal by Luis Suárez (90+8'), assisted by the 37-year-old Argentine.

Suárez and Jordi Alba also contributed with assists in this action-packed match. It’s noteworthy that this was Messi’s first game since sustaining an injury during the Copa America final against Colombia in mid-July, which ended 1-0 after extra time.

Inter Miami secured their third consecutive victory. Previously, Gerardo Martino's side triumphed over Chicago Fire (4-1) and Cincinnati (2-0).

Inter Miami currently leads the Eastern Conference standings with 62 points. Philadelphia, with 30 points, finds itself in 11th place.

Gerardo Martino's squad will next face Atlanta United away on September 19. On the same day, Philadelphia will travel to meet New York City.
