Napoli close to agreement with Chelsea for Lukaku transfer

Chelsea's striker Romelu Lukaku may soon return to Serie A. 

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Napoli has made significant progress in negotiations with the London club regarding the transfer of the 31-year-old Belgian. The two parties are nearing an agreement for the forward's move. 

Today, August 22, the sporting director of Napoli, Giovanni Mannan, is set to meet with representatives from Chelsea in London, aiming to finalize the deal. Both clubs, along with Lukaku himself, are optimistic about the transfer being completed in the coming days. 

Lukaku played for Chelsea from 2011 to 2013 and rejoined the club in 2021 after transferring from Inter Milan for a fee of €113 million. Last season, the forward spent time on loan at Roma, where he netted 21 goals and provided four assists in 47 matches. 

Lukaku's contract with Chelsea runs until the summer of 2026, and the player is valued at €30 million according to Transfermarkt.
