Osimhen's brace secures Galatasaray victory over Tottenham in Europa League
Galatasaray triumphed over Tottenham with a 3-2 win in the fourth match of the Europa League group stage. The game took place at Rams Park Stadium in Istanbul.
For the hosts, Yunus Akgün opened the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by a brace from Victor Osimhen (31', 39'). Tottenham's goals came from William Lancashire (18') and Dominic Solanke (69').
Spurs found themselves a man down from the 60th minute after their 19-year-old forward, Lancashire, was sent off following two yellow cards received within seven minutes.
Mauro Icardi, the forward for the Istanbul club, was substituted in the 85th minute due to a knee injury.
This marked Tottenham's first defeat in the current Europa League campaign. Ange Postecoglou's side had previously secured victories against AZ Alkmaar (1-0), Ferencvaros (2-0), and Qarabag (3-0).
Galatasaray now leads the Europa League table with ten points, while Tottenham has dropped to fifth place with nine points.
In the next round, Galatasaray will travel to face AZ Alkmaar, while the London club will host Roma. Both matches are scheduled for 28th November.
