Owen believes peak Ronaldo would cost one billion pounds in today's market
Former Real Madrid striker Michael Owen addressed the value of renowned forward Cristiano Ronaldo in his prime.
"The current transfer record is over 200 million pounds. I believe that Ronaldo at Manchester United would be worth more than that amount. We must consider what he brought to the team, the number of Champions League trophies he essentially won single-handedly. Additionally, one needs to take into account the number of shirts, sponsorships, and products sold thanks to him.
I think a price tag of 500 million would be low. It could easily be doubled. Real Madrid, after Ronaldo played for them, invested hundreds of millions in a new stadium, and their financial position is excellent. Ronaldo built the Real brand, won trophies for them, and earned them all that money," said Owen in an interview with Genting Casino.
Recall that in 2009, Real Madrid acquired Ronaldo from Manchester United for €94 million, which was a record-breaking amount at the time.
