Patriarch Kirill has called the 2024 Olympics a decline in Western culture

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' has described the 2024 Olympics as a decline in Western culture.

"Today, we observe an active deculturation, a dismantling of cultural norms. A special term has even emerged to describe these newly introduced practices—'new normality.' We also see the renaming of various absurdities as new culture.

The recent Olympics are a prime example of this. The broadcasts from the Games present a very pessimistic picture, reflecting the downward trajectory of the spiritual and cultural core of Western civilisation," Patriarch Kirill was quoted as saying by TASS.

The 2024 Olympic Games took place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russian and Belarusian athletes competed as neutral individual athletes. The United States team emerged as the overall winner.
