Pittsburgh fall to Islanders in shootout as Malkin scores and assists
The Pittsburgh Penguins were narrowly defeated by the New York Islanders with a scoreline of 4-3 in a shootout during their National Hockey League (NHL) regular season clash. The game unfolded at the UBS Arena in Elmont.
For the Islanders, goals were netted by Kyle Palmieri (33'), Simon Holmstrom (50', power play), and Jean-Gabriel Pageau (53'). Bo Horvat sealed the win with a decisive shootout goal. The Penguins saw scoring contributions from Sidney Crosby (26'), Evgeni Malkin (34', power play), and Michael Bunting (48').
Malkin also registered an assist during the encounter. The Islanders' Russian goaltender made an impressive 32 saves from 35 shots.
