Platini Proposes Reducing the Number of Outfield Players in Matches

Former UEFA president and ex-Juventus midfielder Michel Platini has suggested reducing the number of players on the field in football matches.

"I think we should remove one player from each team and play with 10 players on the field. In 1900, teams of 11 players were formed, but at that time they ran less than they do today. Players were not as strong or as fast. Therefore, it would be good to limit the number of players; it would open up space on the field and make football more spectacular," Platini told RMC Sport.

The 69-year-old official served as UEFA president from 2007 to 2015. As a player, Platini won the Ballon d'Or three times.
