Pochettino agrees to lead the US national team

Former Tottenham and Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is set to continue his career in the United States.

According to The Athletic, the 52-year-old Argentine manager has agreed to take the helm of the US national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Previously, USMNT were managed by Gregg Berhalter, who was dismissed from his position in July following their exit from the 2024 Copa America. In their home tournament, the American team failed to progress to the knockout stage, finishing third in their group alongside Uruguay, Panama, and Bolivia.

Mauricio Pochettino took charge of Chelsea in July 2023. Under his leadership, the Blues finished sixth in the English Premier League table last season, amassing 63 points. In May, the London club announced the termination of his contract.
