Pochettino becomes highest paid coach in US national team history
Argentine Mauricio Pochettino has become the highest paid coach in the history of the US national team.
According to Goal, the 52-year-old will earn $6 million per year under a two-year contract with the American national team. No previous coach of the Stars and Stripes has commanded such a salary.
The USA will compete in the 2026 World Cup without going through the qualification stages, as they are one of the host nations.
Last season, Mauricio Pochettino managed Chelsea. Under the Argentine's leadership, the London club finished sixth in the Premier League standings, amassing 63 points in 38 matches.
The US national team announced Pochettino's appointment as head coach on September 11.
