Pochettino Reveals Why He Decided to Lead the US National Team
Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino has explained his decision to take the helm of the United States national team.
"The decision to join USMNT wasn’t just about football for me; it’s about the journey that this team and this country are on. The energy, the passion, and the hunger to achieve something truly historic here – those are the things that inspired me" Pochettino said, as quoted by journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano on social media.
On September 11, the 52-year-old Argentinian officially took charge of the US national team. He will be preparing the squad for the 2026 home World Cup.
In the past season, Pochettino managed Chelsea. Under his guidance, the London club finished sixth in the Premier League (EPL) and qualified for the Europa Conference League. He left the club in May.
