According to the source, the Royal Club has halted all communication with UEFA, except for those necessary for organizing matches. The club believes the chances of Vinicius winning the Ballon d'Or are now exceedingly slim, while the Brazilian player himself is puzzled about what more is required to achieve this honor.

In 2024, the Ballon d'Or was awarded to Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri. Real Madrid chose to boycott the award ceremony.
