Real Sociedad Falls to Alavés Without Zakharyan

Real Sociedad suffered a home defeat to Alavés in the third round of the Spanish league. The match ended with a 1-2 loss for the hosts.

The home side found themselves down to ten men from the 29th minute following the sending off of forward Mikel Oyarzabal. Despite this setback, Brais Méndez put Real Sociedad ahead in the 33rd minute. However, Alavés equalised just before the halftime whistle, with Asier Villalibre converting a penalty in added time (45+5'). The winning goal came from Toni Martinez in the 77th minute.

It's important to note that 21-year-old Russian midfielder Arsen Zakharyan did not participate in the match. On August 6th, the Russian underwent ankle surgery, which took place in Barcelona.

In the next round, Real Sociedad will play away against Getafe on September 1st, while Alavés will host Las Palmas on the same day.
