Ten Hag explains Manchester United's active recruitment of former Ajax players

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has shed light on why the club has consistently signed former Ajax players since his arrival. The 54-year-old coach managed the Dutch team from 2017 to 2022.

«First and foremost, these are club decisions. None of them are solely mine. Decisions are always scrutinised by scouts, recruiters, the sporting director, and the technical director. These decisions are not made by one individual. However, I do have personal knowledge of some of the players. Moreover, these transfers must align with Manchester United's finances», — ten Hag told ESPN.

On August 13, defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich, both of whom previously played for Ajax. Prior to this, the English club's squad was bolstered by goalkeeper Andre Onana, winger Antony, and defender Lisandro Martinez, all of whom also played for the Dutch giants.
