Ten Hag: "Sancho must compete for his place in the team"

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has commented on the absence of forward Jadon Sancho from the squad for the match against Brighton amid interest from Juventus in the player.

"Jadon is here. I had a choice to make. We had some issues, we need a full squad. He's one of them and needs to compete for his position, we'll have a look. It's a long season," Ten Hag said during an interview with TNT Sports.

Earlier reports indicated that Juventus is keen to sign Sancho on loan, with an option to buy for €40 million.

Manchester United is facing Brighton away in the second round of the Premier League.

Jadon Sancho has been with Manchester United since 2021. During the second half of last season, the 24-year-old winger played on loan at Borussia Dortmund. He scored three goals and provided three assists in 21 appearances for the Black and Yellows.
