Three-Time Olympic Champion in Freestyle Wrestling Alexander Medved Passes Away

Three-time Olympic champion and seven-time world champion Alexander Medved has passed away at the age of 87, as confirmed by the press service of the Russian Wrestling Federation.

The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Medved was hailed as the greatest freestyle wrestler in the history of the sport and was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame. He holds the record as the most decorated freestyle wrestler ever, having won three Olympic gold medals (1964, 1968, and 1972) across three different weight categories: light heavyweight, heavyweight, and open class.
