Tom Aspinall claims to retire Jon Jones «without throwing a punch»

Interim UFC heavyweight champion, British fighter Tom Aspinall, has commented on the current division champion, American fighter Jon Jones.

«Jon Jones, he was praying that I would lose that fight against Curtis Blaydes. Praying that I would. Because there is no where that you can find publicly, nowhere, him saying publicly that he will fight me.

It doesn’t exist and I challenge anybody watching this interview to go and find a statement, a quote, anything where he has stated that he will fight me after he’s fought Stipe. It doesn’t exist, the guy is smart.

We know he’s a bit overweight these days. The guy was sat there with the Cheeto fingers or whatever, Doritos on his fingers, with his iPhone in hand waiting for me to get knocked out, let’s just be honest», — Aspinall said in a video on Michael Bisping's YouTube channel.

On July 27, Aspinall knocked out Curtis Blaydes in the first round at a tournament in Manchester, UK, successfully defending his interim title.

Media reports indicated that the winner of this match would face off against the victor of the showdown between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, scheduled for November 2024.
