Trial over Maradona's death postponed to march 2025

The trial concerning the death of former footballer Diego Maradona has been postponed from October 2024 to March 11, 2025.

The court granted a request from three of the eight individuals accused in connection with the Argentine's death to delay the proceedings for a second time, ESPN reports.

The accused, who are medical professionals, face charges of involuntary manslaughter related to Maradona's death and could face prison sentences ranging from eight to 25 years.

An expert panel investigating the circumstances of Maradona's death concluded that the former footballer did not receive adequate medical care following surgery to remove a subdural hematoma in his brain.

Maradona passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60 due to sudden cardiac arrest.
