Winnipeg thrashes Columbus thanks to Ehlers' hat-trick
The Columbus Blue Jackets suffered a heavy 2-6 defeat at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets in a National Hockey League (NHL) regular-season match held at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus.
For the visitors, Nikolaj Ehlers delivered a stunning performance, securing a hat-trick with goals at the 6th, 16th, and 39th minutes. Mason Appleton (23'), Josh Morrissey (52', power play), and Gabriel Vilardi (55') also found the net for Winnipeg. The home team’s goals came from Sean Kuraly (12') and Sean Monahan (37', power play).
Winnipeg currently leads the NHL Western Conference standings with 20 points, while Columbus occupies eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 11 points.
The Blue Jackets are set to play their next match on November 2, facing the Washington Capitals away from home. Meanwhile, the Jets will host the Tampa Bay Lightning the following day.
