«Words cannot express how much you mean». Ronaldo pays tribute to Pepe

Portugal's forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to defender Pepe's decision to retire from professional football at the age of 41.

«There aren't enough words to express how much you mean to me, my friend. We have won everything there was to win, but the greatest achievement is the friendship and respect I have for you. You are unique, brother. Thank you for everything», – Ronaldo wrote on social media.

The 41-year-old Pepe has won 28 trophies at the club level with Real Madrid and Porto, as well as two with Portugal’s national team – the European Championship and the Nations League.

The Portuguese footballer’s last club was Porto, where he played from 2019 to 2024.

At the recently concluded Euro 2024 in Germany, Pepe reached the quarter-finals with the Portugal national team. During the tournament, the defender featured in four matches.
