Zverev: "There's nothing in Federer's criticism that I don't know"

World number two Alexander Zverev has responded to criticism from 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.

The former world number one had earlier remarked that Zverev plays too passively in crucial moments, citing the German's loss to Taylor Fritz at the 2024 US Open as an example.

"That's nothing I don't know. It's absolutely clear to me that I didn't play the way I want to play. That was a terrible game from me. That's why it's completely okay what Roger said," The Tennis Letter quotes Zverev as saying.

At the 2024 US Open, Alexander Zverev reached the quarter-finals, where he lost to Taylor Fritz with scores of 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 4-6, 6-7 (3-7).
