Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
True, Queens Park Rangers have faced a tough schedule recently, but now there should be no excuses for dropping points – they face Cardiff City that sit just above them in the table.
Cardiff City
Cardiff City are persistently inching their way up the Championship ladder, but progress has been sluggish. Currently 21st, they hold a mere one-point advantage over the first contender in the relegation zone. Interim manager Ömer Riza has steadied the ship somewhat, with an initial boost yielding 14 points over six rounds. However, defeats have followed, and even a draw with Sheffield Wednesday (1:1) felt like a relief. At home, they boast a balanced record: four wins and four losses.
Queens Park Rangers
From the 12th to the 15th round, Queens Park Rangers had a grueling schedule, facing consecutive matches against league leaders and contenders such as Burnley, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Leeds United. They managed to snatch a point against both Burnley and Sunderland, but a home draw with Stoke City (1:1) in the last round was certainly a setback. They conceded a goal due to two absurd mistakes, missed a penalty, hit the woodwork, and were only saved by the opposition goalkeeper's heroics in injury time. Fortunately, a goal from the visitors was overturned by the referee.
Cardiff City vs Queens Park Rangers Prediction
The Welsh club have scored in five consecutive home matches and have suffered just one defeat in those games. Queens Park Rangers, in contrast, have struggled on the road, failing to score and earning only one draw in their last four away fixtures. We expect that, true to form, Cardiff City will score and not lose at their home stadium.
