England vs Slovenia: betting odds 25 Jun 2024

Matchday 3 in Group C of Euro 2024. England vs Slovenia. The game kicks off on June 25 at 20:00 (BST) at the RheinEnergie Stadion in Cologne. England – Slovenia: Prediction and betting odds, statistics for the Euro 2024 match.

Potential line-ups for England vs Slovenia

England (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford – Kieran Trippier, Marc Guéhi, John Stones, Kyle Walker – Declan Rice, Trent Alexander-Arnold – Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham – Harry Kane.

Slovenia (4-4-2): Jan Oblak – Erik Janža, Jaka Bijol, Vanja Drkušić, Žan Karničnik – Timi Max Elšnik, Petar Stojanović, Adam Gnezda Čerin, Jan Mlakar – Andraž Šporar, Žan Vipotnik.

England

England were tied with Denmark (1:1) in the second round, ending the English 5-game streak without goals conceded in the Euro group stage. Nevertheless, England haven't lost a European Championship games in regular time on 9 consecutive occassions  (5 wins and 4 draws). The only option for England to fail to advance to the knockout stage directly is to lose the game against Slovenia. Meanwhile, Denmark have to beat Serbia. Otherwise, England will either top their group or at least finish as runner-up. Winning this game guarantees the first position.

  • A maximum of 3 goals in regular time have been scored in 14 out of the last 15 European Championship games England have played.
  • England have scored at least 3 goals in regular time only in 1 out of their last 15 European Championship games.
  • England have scored in the first half in 9 out of their last 10 official games.
  • England have won 7 out of their last 10 official games.

Slovenia

The game between Slovenia and Serbia ended in a draw (1:1). Slovenia conceded a goal in the 95th minute. The Slovenian winless streak in the European Championships has reached 5 games (4 draws and 1 defeat). However, Slovenia have only lost 1 out of their last 9 official games (5 wins and 3 draws). The side is currently 3rd. If they win this game, they will definitely advance to the knockout phase. Otherwise, it’s going to be a problem.

  • At least two goals have been scored in 14 out of the last 15 official games Slovenia have played.
  • Slovenia have scored at least a goal in their last 9 official games.
  • Slovenia have scored the first goal in 7 out of their last 9 official games.

England – Slovenia Prediction

England haven’t scored a lot yet, namely 1 goal in each of the games they’ve played. The side has scored a maximum of 1goal in their last 4 European Championship games. Gareth Southgate is likely to be careful again. There’s no sense in playing brightly prior to the Round of 16.

Slovenia are good in their defensive actions. Slovenia have conceded over 1 goal only in 1 out of the last 7 official games. Slovenia are unlikely to score as they don’t have any high-class forwards. England have conceded only 3 goals (in total0 in their last 9 European Championship games.

We’re likely to see two goals scored tops in the upcoming game. Just like it was in all the games played in this group before. England will be careful again. If they take second position, they’re likely to play against Germany in the Round of 16.

Our prediction is Under 2.5 at 9/10 .

Betting tips 25 Jun 2024

Euro 2024 starts soon, it’s high time to have a look at the Outrights.

Let’s pick a Top Scorer option. Currently, the favourites are Mbappé, Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The odds offered on Ronaldo to become the top scorer are very interesting. But it’s too risky to bet on him as I’m not that sure that he always will be in starting eleven, playing every game for 90 minutes. He’s about to retire, after all. And the level of the league where he plays is pretty low.

Choosing between Kane and Mbappé is way more interesting. Especially, if we talk about Kane. The whole team plays focused on him. He knows what to do in the penalty box, how to create an attempt. This is why I believe that betting on Kane in this case seems to be an interesting option.

Many things depend on a goalkeeper. Remember how many goalkeepers’ mistakes have been decisive in the games! It’s hard to predict who will be nervous, but we can speculate on who’s going to be the best.

I believe that Jordan Pickford is the main candidate to become the best goalkeeper of the tournament. First, England are one of the favourites. I’m pretty sure they will reach at least the semi-finals. Second, Pickford has a perfect Premier League season, playing for Everton, with 14 clean sheets. Only the Arsenal’s goalkeeper had more. Everton and Arsenal are the teams of different levels, after all. Third, Pickford almost has no rivals. Mike Maignan had a pretty bad season in AC Milan, missing the last part of the season due to an injury. It’s hard to say what his form will be in the tournament. Ter Stegen had a bad season in Barcelona, with many games missed to an injury, too. Unai Simón had an average season in Athletic Bilbao, being a substitute in many games, though. Gianluigi Donnarumma had an average season in PSG. And Italy is a weak team, I won’t be surprised if they fail to reach the quarter-finals.

That’s it! No strong goalkeepers left in the list. This is why Jordan Pickford is the main favourite!

The English golden generation is ready for triumph. This idea has been proved by the betting odds offered by the bookmakers prior to the start of the tournament. The Three Lions have been progressing, becoming the most dominating national side in the world.

England easily qualified for Euro 2024, although the group stage wasn’t supposed to be simple for them. England won 6 out of the 8 games they played (2 draws). The Three Lions topped the group, ahead of Italy and Ukraine. The offensive actions were the strongest side, with the English players scoring 22 goals in 8 games. This result is not a surprise as the squad contains Kane, Saka, Palmer, Foden and the others.

England had 3.23 xG in their friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina (3:0) prior to Euro 2024. Alexander-Arnold was an attacking midfielder and scored the second goal, with Grealish and Kane either making an assist or scoring a goal starting as substitutes. The coach can change the attacking players and the opponents of the English side can hardly prepare for the game properly. The key players are very experienced as they participated in previous big tournaments.

The odds on England to reach the Round of 16 are too low, namely 1/5, despite playing against pretty strong Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage. These opponents seem to be convenient for England as the Three Lions can play the main role on the pitch, using all the players.

Throwing aside some childish arguments like the curse of Kane to take a trophy, England are an obvious favourite. This will be the key motivation for the Three Lions.

England didn’t show all their skills in either of the first two games. It wasn’t what many expected to see from this side in this tournament. However, with 4 points they almost 100% will advance to the play-offs anyway. Will England show their best skills in the last game of the group stage? I doubt it. Even if they can, they will keep it to themselves before the knockout stage. After all, Slovenia are pretty inconvenient opponent.

After a quite surprising draw in the match versus Denmark, Slovenia were about to beat Serbia. To be honest, Slovenia deserved to beat Serbia. Yet, they conceded a goal in the very late minutes of the game. Serbia scored using their last opportunity. A moment before that goal Slovenia were in the knockout stage. Now they’re about to be eliminated. It’s going to be hard for them to brace themselves.

Slovenia need to win. England haven’t proved they’re really a great team many expect them to be. However, psychologically, I believe, Slovenia can hardly win this game. Maybe they will attack in the very beginning. But if they fail to score, England will have the advantage.
