Aguero on Rodri’s Ballon d’Or: "Well deserved, football is for everyone, not just Real Madrid"
Former Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has described the victory of the Citizens midfielder Rodri in the Ballon d’Or voting as well-deserved.
The award ceremony took place in Paris on Monday, 28th October. Rodri received the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career, with Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior finishing in second place. It is noteworthy that representatives from the Spanish club refused to attend the ceremony upon learning that the prize would go to the Spanish midfielder from City.
In the last season, Rodri scored nine goals and provided 14 assists in 50 matches for Manchester City. Alongside the Citizens, the midfielder won both the Premier League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
At Euro 2024, the 28-year-old midfielder scored once in six games. The Spanish national team clinched the trophy, with Rodri being named the tournament's best player.
