PGMOL Responds to Leaked Video of Referee David Coote with White Powder
Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has issued a statement following the release of a video allegedly showing English Premier League referee David Coote.
"Coote has been suspended from duties pending the full outcome of the investigation. His well-being remains our priority, and we are committed to providing him with the necessary support. At this time, we are unable to make further comments," a PGMOL spokesperson told The Sun.
Previously, The Sun released footage in which the 42-year-old referee appears to inhale a white powder using a rolled-up dollar bill, with a bank card visible on the table nearby. Reports suggest that the video, potentially filmed by Coote himself, was taken after the UEFA Euro 2024 quarterfinal match between Germany and Spain, in his hotel room provided by UEFA.
David Coote has been officiating Premier League matches since 2018 and became a FIFA-listed referee in 2020.
