Ancelotti supports Ter Stegen after serious injury

Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti has offered words of support to Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who has sustained a severe injury.

"I genuinely feel sorry that such an outstanding footballer like Ter Stegen, who is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world, has gotten injured. I hope he recovers swiftly," Ancelotti told AS.

Ter Stegen was injured in the sixth round of the Spanish league during the match against Villarreal, which ended in a 5-1 victory for Barcelona. The goalkeeper started the match but had to be substituted by Iñaki Peña in the first half after sustaining a knee injury. Ter Stegen was eventually carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

Medical examinations later revealed that he has suffered a complete rupture of the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The estimated recovery time is 7-8 months.
