Carragher confident Salah will extend Liverpool contract

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher expressed his belief that forward Mohamed Salah will extend his contract with the Merseyside club.

"By the end of the season, he'll be eyeing Henri's and Lampard's records. I think such statistics are one of the main reasons why Mo will renew his agreement. Of course, salary and contract length will be part of the discussions, but I believe Salah is particularly driven by the goal-scoring race. He's breaking all records at Liverpool, and climbing further up that list is a significant part of his motivation as a player. I'm not saying he's selfish; he's a fantastic team player," Carragher told The Standard.

Salah is currently tied for ninth in the all-time Premier League goal-scoring chart with Jermain Defoe, at 162 goals. Those ahead of them include Robbie Fowler (163), Thierry Henry (175), Frank Lampard (177), Sergio Aguero (184), Andy Cole (187), Wayne Rooney (208), Harry Kane (213), and Alan Shearer (260).

The Egyptian forward has been with the Reds since 2017. This season, he has played 11 matches across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing six assists. Salah’s current contract with Liverpool runs until June 30, 2025.
