Chelsea defeat Gent in the Conference League

Chelsea secured a 4-2 victory over Belgian side Gent in their first group-stage match of the Conference League. The game took place at Stamford Bridge, where the home team delivered an impressive performance.

The scoring opened in the 12th minute, with Renato Veiga netting a goal for Chelsea after an assist from Mykhailo Mudryk. Shortly after the start of the second half, Pedro Neto doubled Chelsea's lead in the 46th minute with help from Axel Disasi.

Gent responded on the 50th minute through defender Tsuyoshi Watanabe, pulling one back for the visitors. However, Chelsea regained their two-goal cushion in the 63rd minute when Christopher Nkunku found the back of the net. A further goal came in the 70th minute from midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, extending Chelsea's dominance. In the dying moments of the game, Omri Gandelman scored for Gent in the 90th minute.

After six rounds of the Conference League group stage, a table will be formed from 36 teams. The top eight will automatically qualify for the Round of 16, while teams finishing between 9th and 24th places will compete in play-offs for a chance to advance to the knockout stages.
