"Divided the entire team": Suárez criticises Uruguay coach

Luis Suárez, the ex-striker for Uruguay, has revealed the challenges facing the national team, which he attributes to coach Marcelo Bielsa.

“At the training complex, staff are not allowed to approach us, greet us, or dine with us. They have to be cautious even at the door they are supposed to enter. It breaks my heart to see what life is like at the Complex today... There were situations during the Copa América that affected me deeply, but I chose not to speak about them. We held a meeting to ask the coach to at least acknowledge us with a greeting, but he didn’t respond.

Bielsa holds conferences and shares wonderful insights about people, yet there was a day in New York when he asked us not to stop and greet others, to which I stood up and told him that we would greet people regardless.

Bielsa has divided the entire team, even in the way we train,” Suárez was quoted by ESPN, referencing DirecTV.

In early September, Luis Suárez announced his retirement from international football. The 37-year-old forward is Uruguay's all-time leading goalscorer, having played 142 matches and netted 69 goals for the national team.
