Flick: "Bayern holds a special place in my life; this will be a challenging match"

Barcelona's head coach Hans-Dieter Flick has commented on the upcoming Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

"We cannot change what happened in the past, but we can influence what happens tomorrow. We intend to prepare thoroughly and give our all. We aim to defeat Bayern.

We meticulously prepare for each match by studying our opponents in detail. Bayern holds a special place in my life — it's a wonderful club where I have many acquaintances and good relationships with the players and management. It was a great period with memories I'm fond of.

But now a new chapter has begun, and I'm excited and very happy. It’s a pleasure to be here [at Barcelona]. Our fans support us with enthusiasm, and this drives us to give our maximum effort. That is exactly what we're planning to do, and we want to be well-prepared.

Perhaps I know Bayern a little better, and it will be a tough match. This is the Champions League, where the best teams compete. Bayern always plays in a dominant style, and this season is no exception. They press their opponents and keep control of the ball as a part of their DNA," Flick's words were reported by As.

Barcelona will host Bayern Munich on their home ground in the third round of the Champions League group stage. The match is scheduled for tomorrow, October 23, and will kick off at 20:00 BST.

The Munich team occupies the 15th position in the Champions League standings with three points, while the Catalans are in 16th place with the same three points.

Hans-Dieter Flick managed Bayern Munich from 2019 to 2021. Under his guidance, the Munich club won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, the DFB-Pokal, the DFL-Supercup, and became two-time national champions.
