Gary Neville criticizes Premier League for approach to financial support of lower divisions
Former Manchester United and England player Gary Neville has criticized the Premier League (PL) for its approach to financially supporting lower divisions.
"I find the Premier League's position awful. They come across as selfish and greedy, embodying all the worst traits. The reality is we want the state of our game to be sustainable. Right now, football is not stable. The Premier League are the big brothers sitting at the table, handing out scraps to the younger ones. This is not what a family looks like," Goal quoted the footballer as saying.
Negotiations between the Premier League and the English Football League (which includes clubs from the second, third, and fourth divisions) over the terms of a new TV deal have been stalled since March.
