Guardiola Reveals Premier League Denied City's Request to Reschedule Matches After Club World Cup
Manchester City’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, has disclosed that the Premier League has turned down the club's request to reschedule the opening rounds of the 2025/26 season due to the team's participation in the Club World Cup.
“The Premier League did not allow us to postpone the first two games for recovery. Many thanks to them. I don't know if we will play more matches than in the season when we won the treble,” Guardiola told Reuters.
The Club World Cup is set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, with the Premier League season commencing in August. It has also been reported that Chelsea has submitted a similar request to reschedule their opening fixtures.
