Haaland ranked sixth among Norway's most popular athletes
TV2 Sport has released statistics illustrating the popularity of Norwegian athletes among the country's residents.
Leading the rankings is Karsten Warholm, the 2020 Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles.
Renowned Manchester City forward Erling Haaland claimed only sixth place on the list, while his competitor from the English Premier League, Arsenal midfielder Martin Ødegaard, secured second place.
The most popular athletes in Norway as of August 2024 are:
1. Karsten Warholm — 35% (37).
2. Martin Ødegaard — 25% (23).
3. Johannes Thingnes Bø — 20% (26).
4. Birgit Skarstein — 19% (21).
5. Markus Røthe — 17% (new).
6. Erling Haaland — 17% (21).
7. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo — 16% (18).
8. Jakob Ingebrigtsen — 16% (15).
9. Casper Ruud — 13% (15).
10. Magnus Carlsen — 12% (14).
