Kucherov matches rare NHL record
Tampa's Russian forward, Nikita Kucherov, achieved a remarkable feat in the NHL regular-season clash against the Carolina Hurricanes, finishing with three goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory.
Kucherov scored a natural hat-trick in just eight and a half minutes during the final 10 minutes of the game. This accomplishment has only been matched by two other players in the opening game of a season: Babe Dye in 1922 and Bert Corbeau in 1919.
As a testament to his outstanding performance, Nikita Kucherov was named the first star of today's match.
