Lewandowski criticises Poland's performance against Portugal
Poland's forward Robert Lewandowski has expressed his dissatisfaction with his national team’s performance in their UEFA Nations League match against Portugal, which ended in a 3-1 defeat.
"I’m not a midfielder, and I shouldn’t have to drop back into defence to receive the ball in my own half. During the match, I need to be in the penalty area, waiting for crosses and passes. We need to work on this. Not just in the game against Portugal, but overall—we don’t find ourselves near the opponent’s box often enough, and it’s a striker's job to make things happen in that area," Lewandowski was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.
Alongside Poland and Portugal, Group 1 of League A also features Croatia and Scotland.
