Manchester City claims FA Super Cup victory over Manchester United

The match, held at Wembley Stadium in London, ended 2-1 in favour of Manchester City after penalties.

Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 82nd minute, but the Cityzens equalised through Bernardo Silva's goal in the 89th minute.

In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Manchester City triumphed 7-6. Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans failed to convert their spot-kicks for the Red Devils, while Bernardo Silva missed his attempt for City. The decisive moment came when Manuel Akanji scored the winning penalty for Pep Guardiola's side.

This marks the seventh time in their history that Manchester City has lifted the FA Super Cup, with their last triumph in this competition dating back to 2019.
