Manchester City could be expelled from national cup competitions if they are excluded from the Premier League
Manchester City could be excluded from national cup competitions if the club is found guilty of 115 financial rule breaches. This was reported by The Telegraph.
Recall that in February last year, the English Premier League (EPL) accused City of violations spanning from 2009 to 2018. The hearings for this case began on Monday.
If the 'Citizens' are found guilty, one of the punishments could be a points deduction, which would lead to their relegation from the EPL. In that event, City would be excluded from the FA Cup and the English League Cup, as stipulated in the tournament rules.
It is also noted that Manchester City's exclusion from the EPL could affect the club's participation in the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
