Manchester City wins legal battle against the Premier League over deal regulations
According to a statement from the club, Manchester City has triumphed in its legal dispute with the Premier League regarding transactions involving associated parties.
The hearings revealed that the league's original regulations contravened UK competition law and that the league had abused its dominant position in relation to clubs. These rules have been deemed unlawful, and the league's decisions regarding two sponsorship deals involving Manchester City have been overturned.
The lawsuit, initiated on June 4, was based on a rule that prohibits clubs from entering into agreements with companies linked to team owners. Manchester City interpreted this as discriminatory towards owners from Gulf states.
