Manchester United aims to host boxing matches at its new stadium
Manchester United is planning to host major boxing matches at its new stadium. It was previously reported that the club is considering constructing a 100,000-seat arena, with an estimated cost of around £2 billion.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United aims to compete with Wembley in the organization of high-profile boxing events. Last week, 96,000 spectators attended the fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois at the capital's arena.
United believes that the new stadium could accommodate up to 110,000 fans, potentially establishing the city as the boxing capital of the UK. It is worth noting that no boxing matches have taken place at Old Trafford since October 1993.
