Manchester United Cuts Payments to Legendary Coach Ferguson for Cost-Saving Measures

Manchester United is reducing payments to Sir Alex Ferguson as part of cost-cutting measures.

According to The Athletic, the former manager of Manchester United will no longer receive "multi-million" payouts from the club for his role as an ambassador at the end of the current season. Since stepping down as manager in 2013, Ferguson has remained with the club as an ambassador and a director on the board. While his exact salary as an ambassador remains undisclosed, the club announced in 2014 that it had paid him £2.16 million since his appointment to the role in 2013.

The decision to terminate payments to Ferguson was communicated in a personal meeting by Jim Ratcliffe, head of INEOS and a shareholder in the club. Ratcliffe explained that this measure was part of the club's efforts to reduce expenses.

It is noted that the matter was resolved amicably. The 82-year-old Ferguson will continue to serve as a club director and will still attend matches.
