Manchester United request City to take Garnacho and Mainoo on their flight to Ballon d'Or ceremony

Manchester United approached Manchester City with a request to accommodate Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo on their flight to Paris.

According to the Daily Mail, City had chartered a private jet to transport their delegation to the Ballon d'Or ceremony. United asked if the 19-year-old midfielder and the 20-year-old forward could join the same flight to the French capital. However, they were informed that there were no available seats left, meaning United will need to seek alternative arrangements.

This request was reportedly in line with Manchester United's new sporting leadership's policy to reduce expenses and their commitment to environmental sustainability by minimizing their carbon footprint. Both clubs have previously shared flights for their players returning to England following international fixtures.

The Ballon d'Or ceremony is set to take place on 28th October. Representing Manchester City in the men's category are Ruben Dias, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, and Rodri, while in the women's category, Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp, and Khadija Shaw are in contention. Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are competing for the award for the best player under 21, alongside City's winger Savinho.
