Piers Morgan: "Ten Hag is a Short-sighted, Mediocre Coach"
Journalist Piers Morgan has shared his thoughts on Erik ten Hag's dismissal as manager of Manchester United.
"Everything Cristiano said about ten Hag in that interview has proven true over time. Erik turned out to be overly hyped, short-sighted, disrespectful, and a downright mediocre coach, unable to work with world-class players or manage a club of this scale," Morgan wrote on social media.
Rudd van Nistelrooy, previously part of ten Hag’s coaching staff, has been appointed as interim head coach.
In the current 2024/2025 Premier League season, Manchester United accumulated only 11 points under ten Hag’s guidance, placing them 14th in the league table after nine matches.
Ten Hag had led United since summer 2022. Although they recorded their lowest Premier League finish last season, ending in eighth place, they won the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the final. Ten Hag’s contract was set to run until summer 2026.
